Keywords: Integration, Sociology, Latin America, Communication, Development

Abstract

The work reviews, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the differences between the types of development of the capital, main and peripheral cities of the Latin American countries. Three types of societies are identified: premodern, modern and postmodern. The objective of this research is to analyze the different types of development that can be identified within the South American country (Ecuador), the level of development of a capital city, a main city and a peripheral city. The research methodology is descriptive, with a qualitative approach, transactional analysis and non-experimental design; A discussion group and in-depth structured interviews were carried out, applied to five study subjects and contrasted with substantiated academic literature. The partial conclusions of this work determine that societies share the same system, however, as far as cultural, commercial, technological and educational development is concerned, various aspects can be identified that generate important gaps when it comes to combining less developed cities. with the most developed ones, in addition to different visions on the concept of development and the difficulties of framing an intra-national integration process.
