Thirty years of innovation in local management, voices and experiences
Abstract
We are witnessing today a new boom in innovation in public management, hand in hand with the idea of open government. It is possible, and certainly enriching, to enable some questions about innovative projects carried out in local governments in the last 30 years. In the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina, since the 90s local governments have carried forward multiple expe-riences that were intended to be innovative. The perception of the actors of these processes is a valuable source to reflect on innovation, putting it in perspective of the processes developed and the elapsed time. This paper presents these research results. At first, a presentation of the idea of innovation in public management is presented, from the 90s to the present. Then the main findings about the innovative processes are presented and discussed, finally, lessons learned from the experience for the current innovative processes are concluded.
