Abstract

This article analyzes the relationships between organized crime and corruption. It focuses on two subjects. The debate about how a high level of corruption in a society favors the develop-ment opportunities of a criminal organization and how the connection of public institutions with criminal networks affects the State, society and the general public. This work also pro-poses some measures to improve this current situation, with the urgency that it requires, without forgetting that we are facing a real international problem and whose universality we must necessarily take into account, if we wish to combat it effectively.
